  1. Connect to your Mobley on any Computer [Windows or Mac], tablet or smartphone. In your browser, go to 192.168.1.1 to connect directly to Mobley. Enter the default login: attadmin and it will bring you to the AT&T Wi-Fi Manager Homepage.
Go to [Settings], then take a note of your main WiFi settings. You will need to remember your
  1. Network Name Network Name (SSID)
  2. Security Type
  3. Password

3. Then go to [Advanced], then [Router]. You will need to take a note of your

  1. IP Address
  2. Subnet Mask

You can close the Mobley Login Page and now we’ll connect to the router that will be the new extender for the Mobley.

4. Connect to your Router’s Internal Default IP address. This info should be available on the router itself or searching online. The default IP for the D-Link DIR-825 is http://192.168.0.1

The default login for the DIR-825 [and many other routers]
Username: Admin
Password: leave blank

NOTE: If you changed your password at some point and can’t remember it, don’t stress out! Just reset your router by using a paperclip or small screwdriver and pressing the result button for 15 seconds.

In this guide, my router is using open source firmware DD-WRT. There are a few other ones on the market or you can use the default firmware that came with your router. The menu and settings will be different on other firmware, but the settings and values required will be similar.

5. After logging into the router, you will see the dd-wrt.com home page. I want to keep this guide simple and easy to follow so I’m going straight to the point to get you up and running. Go to the [Setup] tab then [Basic Setup].

Wireless Setup:
WAN Connection Type: Disabled
Router Name: Choose whatever name you want

Network Setup:
Local IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Local DNS: 192.168.1.2

Press [Save]

 6. Go to the [Advanced Routing] tab and change Operating Mode to [Router], then Press [Save]

7. Go to the [Wireless], then [Basic Settings] tab.  This part can be a little more confusing, but I'll try my best to break it down by each step to make it easy to follow. The DIR-825 is dual-band, so there are 2 different sections for 2.4ghz and 5.ghz. I will start with the 2.4ghz and go from there.

Wireless Physical Interface ath0 [2.4 GHz] - AR922X 802.11n
Wireless Mode: Client Bridge (Routed)
Default Gateway Mode: Manual
Gateway: 0.0.0.0
Wireless Network Mode: Mixed

Wireless Network Name (SSID): This MUST match the SSID name of your Mobley, case sensitive

8. Add a Virtual Interface for the 2.4ghz wireless

Wireless Mode: AP
Wireless Network Name (SSID): Choose a name for the Wi-Fi Extender Signal
Wireless SSID Broadcast: Enable

9. Now we’ll add the same settings for the 5ghz interface

Wireless Physical Interface ath0 [5 GHz] - AR922X 802.11n
Wireless Mode: Client Bridge (Routed)
Default Gateway Mode: Manual
Gateway: 0.0.0.0

10. Add a Virtual Interface for the 5ghz wireless

Wireless Mode: AP
Wireless Network Name (SSID): Choose a name for the Wi-Fi Extender Signal
Wireless SSID Broadcast: Enable

Then Click [Save].

11. Go to [Wireless], [Wireless Security] tab. We will now enter the correct Wi-Fi security settings and password so it matches the mobley.
Physical Interface ath0:
Security Mode: WPA2-PSK
WPA Algorithms: AES
WPA Shared Key: Enter your Mobley Wi-Fi Password
Virtual Interfaces ath0.1:
Security Mode: WPA2-PSK
WPA Algorithms: AES
WPA Shared Key: Enter your Mobley Wi-Fi Password

Physical Interface ath1:
Security Mode: WPA2-PSK
WPA Algorithms: AES
WPA Shared Key: Enter your Mobley Wi-Fi Password
Virtual Interfaces ath1.1:
Security Mode: WPA2-PSK
WPA Algorithms: AES
WPA Shared Key: Enter your Mobley Wi-Fi Password

Then Click [Save].

12. Final last checks and we’re done!  See the highlighted areas in each screen shots to make sure it matches yours. After you’ve checked the last settings, click [Apply Settings] and let the Router Restart to apply the new settings. It can take 1-2 minutes.

13. After applying the settings and letting it restart, you will need to reconnect to your new wifi name and enter the new password if it was changed. You will be able to see BOTH the Mobley WiFi and the Extender WiFi names on the network and you can connect to whichever one is in the best range for you. You will need to play with the position of the Mobley and Extender for the best performance and range.
